Trusts
Directly passing assets to your beneficiaries isn’t always the best way to protect your estate and we may advise that you include a trust in your Will. This means you will be able to name a trustee to hold the assets your beneficiaries inherit on their behalf.
We can arrange a variety of trusts, including Property Protection Trusts, Flexible Life Interest Trusts, and a range of Discretionary Trusts. These can help with:
Inheritance tax planning.
Protecting your children’s inheritance from being lost if you die and your spouse remarries, or from being used on a spouse’s long-term care fees.
Placing your estate in the best position to benefit your family through the generations after your death.
Making sure a disabled or vulnerable child’s inheritance is managed by trusted people so that their circumstances are taken into account upon distribution of assets.

FAQ
How do I know if I need a trust-based Will?
As part of the Will writing process, Mark and Nick assess each client’s personal circumstances to check whether they could benefit from more complex estate planning than provided by a standard Will. If we were to recommend a trust, we would let you know why and what the benefits are versus a basic Will.
How much does a trust-based Will cost?
Trust-based Wills are more complex than basic Wills, and that is reflected in their cost. The trusts we offer are bespoke to each client, and therefore exact prices depend on your circumstances, but in general, our trust-based Wills cost between £700-£1300, depending on their complexity.
